With Thanksgiving rapidly approaching here in the United States, everyone’s starting to plan their holiday menu.
There’s always some version of sweet potatoes on our family’s holiday table, whether it’s candied yams, sweet potato pie, or baked sweet potatoes slathered in cinnamon sugar and butter.
Oh my, I think I put on 5 pounds just thinking about it.
Because so many of us consider our dogs to be part of the family, I strongly believe they shouldn’t be left out of the holiday festivities. That’s why I want to share this oh so simple, healthy, and delicious recipe for vegan and grain-free sweet potato cookies for dogs.
As you can see, there are limited ingredients in this recipe, and they’re all wholesome and healthy. You may even have them in your kitchen already.
Even if you don’t, make a list and run out to the market right away, because according to my girl, Nike, when you mix them all together, they make one delicious cookie.

Looks like a great treat for the holidays. I like the paw prints on the cookies.
Had to use a full cup of coconut oil and another 4oz jar of baby food to get them wet enough, and I still couldn’t roll them out. I just pressed them into a cookie sheet and scored the top with a knife. Baked 20 min. then broke apart on the score lines. Pretty crumbly, but my dog LOVES them, and he’s super picky. Next time I will add an egg and see if that does the trick. Great recipe, just needs some improvements! 🙂
Awesome recipe – we’re making them this weekend!
Let me know what you think of them! I’m betting they’ll be a big hit! 🙂
This recipe did not work at all as written. I added close to 3 cups of liquid trying to get it moist enough. I suspected there was a typo, then I saw the recipe somewhere else listing only 1/2 cup coconut flour. Seems like 1/2 cup flour will work.
Like Kelly #2 said, this mix was so dry I also had to add much more oil, another jar of sweet potato puree, plus an egg. The cookies were still very crumbly and I may try 3 jars sweet potato puree next time. Dogs love them.
I’m definitely going to have to make these!
This is a great recipe and it is just in time for the holidays!
I had the opposite problem using 1/2 cup of flour as suggested. Far too wet. I ended up adding another cup of flour, as the recipe states.
Forgot to add (sorry!) they turned out great! And my dog loves them! Thank you so much for the recipe, Christina! I’ll be making loads more of these! 🙂
