Today is Take Your Dog to Work Day, and guess who’s volunteered to be my assistant for the day?
The truth is, I am very blessed to run my own business, which allows me to work with my dogs every single day. Not everyone is so lucky, and they need a special day like today to take their four-legged buddies to work with them.
Pet Sitters International (PSI) created TYDTWDay back in 1999 as a way of celebrating the amazing companions that dogs make, and to encourage pet adoption from local shelters and rescue groups.
TYDTWDay is an annual event that takes place on the Friday after Father’s Day, and encourages employers to “open their workplace to employees’ four-legged friends on this one special day to celebrate the human-canine bond and promote pet adoptions.”
If you’re fortunate enough to work for a company that is participating in Take Your Dog To Work Day® today, PSI encourages you to focus on the fun employees and employers have, celebrate the value of pets in the workplace, and encourage pet adoptions. PSI believes that when you take your dog to work, non-pet owners will see the special bond you have with your dog firsthand and may be encouraged to adopt a pet of their own.
We’ve got some fun things planned here in our office today – how will you be celebrating Take Your Dog to Work Day?
