The “dog days of summer” are upon us here in the midwest, and my dogs and I are loving every minute of it.
The days are long and hot, bright and sunny, and we’ve been getting out and enjoying the great outdoors. Longer days mean more time for hikes, walks around the neighborhood, and just enjoying a slower pace as we relax on our deck.
Warmer days and more time outdoors means I’m less likely to want to turn the oven on and make my dogs a special treat, but that’s okay. Today I’m going to share the simplest DIY dog treat recipe ever, and I promise, your dog will love it.
This oh so easy treat is just 3 ingredients, including Old Mother Hubbard All-Natural Dog Treats. As you can see from the look on Nike’s face, these are pretty darned good all by themselves.
And when you add in just two more simple ingredients — a little bit of peanut butter and a banana — they become irresistible.
On those busy summer days, here’s all you have to do in order to create a quick and easy, yummy and wholesome treat for your dog.
All you’ll need is a large banana that’s not overly ripe and some peanut butter. Make sure your peanut butter doesn’t contain Xylitol or other artificial sweeteners, as these can be toxic for your dog.
Peel and slice the banana into 1/2″ pieces and place them on a plate. Next, simply add a dollop of peanut butter to the top of each banana slice.
Old Mother Hubbard has been around since 1926, and their treats feature all-natural ingredients that you can feel good about giving your dog.
The best thing about these simple crunchy peanut butter & banana bites for dogs is that you can whip them up in less than 15 minutes. Any time you’re feeling especially loving and want to show your dog how much she means to you, trust me, a little peanut butter goes a long way in saying “You’re the best dog in the world!”
I mean, just look at Georgie’s face. She can’t wait to dig into her special treat, and she knows that Momma loves her so much. Win-win, am I right?
