It’s hard to believe it was 5 years ago today that the “Vick Dogs” were rescued from the Virginia home of NFL quarterback Michael Vick.
Today, many of those dogs are happy, healthy, loving family dogs including Ginger (pictured above, all decked out to celebrate the 5th anniversary of her freedom). Let their story be a reminder that you can’t judge a dog (or a person, for that matter) by his past. It’s what he’s doing today that makes him who he really is.
One of my Facebook friends, a former bait dog name Blake, convinced his Hu-mama (that’s human mother, for those of you who don’t speak Doggie) to make a really incredible video, showcasing not only the Vick dogs, but many other wonderful family Pit Bulls. Her goal is “to clear up the misconception that Pit Bulls are vicious killers“, and I think you’ll agree when you watch it that these dogs are anything but. They’re sweet, affectionate family dogs, desiring to please and be loved.
Beautiful
This is wonderful! So happy to see these pups in great homes 🙂
So nice to know….somebody cared enough! Beautiful story and photos!
Wonderful! Thanks for taking the time to make it so we could be aware and reminded 🙂

Sara, thanks for stopping by my blog! I hope you’ll come back to visit again soon!
I must admit that as an animal lover on the whole, dogs are probably my least favourite after an incident where my sister got attacked when she was younger. I’ve always had in the back of my mind that certain dogs are just ‘bad’ or ‘vicious’, the pit bull included. Having watched this video and read other posts on this site, I think it’s fair to say I shall never be judging another dog just by what breed it is again. A lovely video, thanks!
Stefanie, thank you for your words! Changing hearts and minds is the purpose of this blog, and I always feel like maybe I’m making a little progress when I receive comments like yours! I always tell people, judge dogs as individuals, the same way you judge people. Only then will you know what a dog (or person) is like.
Thanks for visiting! Please stop by again soon!
