Nike loves to play with an old t-shirt of my husband’s, knotted up into a big ball. Her favorite activity is unknotting the shirt and then taking it to Daddy to be tied up again. It’s really quite silly, but it’s true. Her favorite toy is an old t-shirt.
So a few weeks ago when I read about Talia’s Toys over at Pawsitively Pets, I had to check them out. Upcycled toys made from t-shirts? Sounds like the perfect toy for my crazy dog, not to mention a bonus for the environment.
I headed over to check out Talia’s Toys on Etsy, and sure enough, there they were – colorful braided tug toys made from t-shirts. Such a simple concept, but what a great idea. Rachel is the creative force behind these toys, and she was happy to send us a few items for review. Take a look.
The toys come in a variety of colors, and in fact you can choose the colors of your favorite sports team or other colors that inspire you to create your dog’s toy. They’re priced right and are a breeze to clean because they’re machine washable. They don’t make a stringy mess like traditional rope tug toys, so they were a big hit with me.
But what did Nike think of them?
Trust me – she’s a fan! She loves her new tug toys and can’t wait to greet Daddy at the door every evening, ready for a fun game!
One thing I will say, though, is that Nike finds it a challenge to take things apart, the way she likes to “unknot” her old t-shirt toy. I’ve discovered that she can’t play with her new toys unsupervised or she will completely untie them, so that’s something to keep in mind if your dog likes to take things apart or is a powerful chewer.
But we loved Talia’s Toys and in fact we love them so much, we want to give our readers a chance to share them with their dogs. How about a $25 gift card to spend at Talia’s Toys? Okay, you got it!

My first choice is Blue and Orange. Maybe Talia could make school colors as part of her line.
I like the yellow and gray!
We LOVE these toys! We reviewed one a few weeks ago and were really pleased. We would probably go for an orange and gray one this time 🙂
Cute toys! I’m torn though between the green and the blue, I like them both!
Cute, my first choice would be blue and grey.
I would choose the pink and gray. Thanks for the chance!
Yay! Glad Nike likes them! Shiner still has hers too, but it’s unraveled a little bit. She’s a pretty powerful chewer so I think it’s awesome that we still have it. I’m lucky if toys last more than a day… or even a few minutes with her.
I like the red one!!
These are just too cute! Just like you, our pitty likes to take toys apart if we are not looking, so thanks for the heads up. Athena would love the mint and green one. Her favorite color combo 🙂
I like the burgundy and grey barrel braid
I would choose orange
pink and grey
I would choose red
Grey and Red for sure!! Love them.
I’d probably pick red
I love the mint and grey colored rope toy!
light blue and brown
These are so cute and creative! What a great way to recycle t-shirts 🙂 I would have to pick yellow because it’s our fire company color, but I have to say I can send her dozens and I’d be buying blue too lol!
pink and grey
Baby would like either a pink one or a purple one <3
I like the pink and grey colors best 🙂
I like the purple/gray/white
