Back in 2012 when I started this blog, my primary focus was to advocate for Pit Bulls. I was a relatively new Pit Bull mom at the time, and I was mortified by the way bully breeds and their owners are often discriminated against in our society. I knew something needed to be done to get the truth out.
This blog was created to show an example of what loving, affectionate, and intelligent animals Pit Bulls can be, as well as what kind of people choose to live their lives with Pit Bulls. I wanted to use this space to educate people about the real Pit Bull, and I like to think I have succeeded in some small way.
Although this blog has done well over the past 5 and a half years, it’s time for a change.
Over the last couple of years, my focus has shifted to become a little wider to include breeds other than Pit Bulls. I’ve enjoyed sharing tips and information for dog moms of all breeds, and even the occasional article about cats.
I have really embraced my role as an Everyday Dog Mom, and I love sharing my ideas with other dog moms who are looking for helpful resources to create a fabulous dog-friendly life, and that’s where the idea of The Everyday Dog Mom was born.
So, what is an Everyday Dog Mom, you ask? She’s a vibrant, stylish woman whose dog is the center of her world! She’s the girl who loves being on the go, but also loves snuggling up on the couch for a Netflix binge. She’s the lady who loves getting dressed up, but is just as happy in a comfy t-shirt and leggings, hanging out with the family.
I’m an Everyday Dog Mom and I’m betting you are, too.
On November 1, 2017, The Lazy Pit Bull will start its transition to become The Everyday Dog Mom.
You’ll still find lots of helpful tips, tricks, ideas, and resources here, and you’ll also find more of the new stuff. More focus on dog moms. More focus on ways to create an amazing dog-friendly home. More focus on the things that matter to all dog moms, regardless of the breed they share their lives with.
I promise, it’s going to be a lot of fun and I hope you’ll come along for the ride! I really like having you here!
Questions? Feel free to send me a message and I’ll get back to you as quick as I can!
Love the new name!!
Thank you, Theresa! 🙂
I’m glad you feel relieved to expand your horizons. I’m just sad that your not advocating for the pit bull breed anymore. I’m sure you will still include them but the name is what draws the public. Good luck and happy tails!!
I’m sorry to see the name go since I truly believe there needs to be huge advocacy for maligned bod breeds . It took over five months for me to find a rent that not only took a dog over 30lbs, or height as well as all sorts of bans on breeds INCLUDING LABRADOR RETRIEVERS!! Especially black coated animals in general get a bad rap!
I do truly believe there are no bad dogs, there are only bad people mistreating defenseless animals who try to protect themselves based on their previous treatment, or are in pain or suffering from a disease.
It’s from the experience of being run out of a public off leash dog park with my Lab and Staffordshire Terrier, both of whom had been going there since they were puppies, because of “anonymous complaints” by a new group of people who didn’t understand dog behavior and play in general! The “Authorities” never witnessed any such occurrences nor had anyone I asked that also used the park since I was always with my dogs and monitoring their behavior at all times. Then this group of dog owners I didn’t know started harassing me constantly about “neutering” my male dog whenever I was within earshot!
I couldn’t believe how barbaric and vocal these people were. I had never had heard of such a horrible thing in my 45 years of dog owning life! I was raised to understand that to keep reproduction down you always “fixed the female”.
I’m very happy to no longer live in Westport Connecticut!
Good luck with your new venture, I’ll have to see how much information you put out there as far as animal rights and legislation information You include.
You do realize that Trump has made it legal to kill hibernating bears recently don’t you? He is destroying all of the protective legislation of past Presidents back to Teddy Roosevelt and before!
When do you think it will land on your doorstep? When your town anhialates certain breeds based on rumored behavior tendencies?
Done
Good luck on your new venture and cannot wait to read the new blog with a big woof from Layla
