I really want both my blog and Facebook page to be positive and uplifting. I try to keep it professional, informative, and helpful. I really want my readers to visit both sites, knowing they’ll find something that will make them smile and turn a bad day into a better one.
But sadly, life’s just not that way all the time.

This entire family of puppies – babies – was euthanized at a shelter in Texas. Why? I suppose because the shelter was overcrowded and they needed the space.
So many people allow their pets to recklessly deliver litter after litter of puppies. They try to give the pups away, or maybe even sell them, and when they can’t get rid of them, they take them to a shelter.
They think, “I’ll let someone else deal with this problem.”
They foolishly believe that a puppy in a shelter is guaranteed to find a home.
But you know what? They’re wrong. Puppies are euthanized in shelters every single day.
Puppies. Old dogs. Sick dogs. Perfectly healthy dogs. Mama dogs filled with unborn babies. Killed every day in shelters across this country because there simply are not enough adopters for all the dogs that need homes.
One mama dog, producing only one litter, can result in 46,000 more puppies in a 6-year period.
FORTY-SIX THOUSAND PUPPIES. Simply because one irresponsible jerk allowed his unaltered dog to produce a single litter of puppies!
It’s time for this to stop. Careless, irresponsible breeding must end. People must start to take responsibility for their actions toward their pets. And maybe that starts with making them aware of the truth.
Soft, playful balls of fur with sweet puppy breath aren’t guaranteed a forever home simply because they’re babies.
Please spay and neuter your pets. Tell your family and friends to spay and neuter their pets. Remind people of the high price that innocent animals pay every single day because we as humans fail to be responsible.
And to those of you looking to add a dog or cat to your family, visit a shelter or rescue group. Don’t buy from a pet store or backyard breeder.
It’s really that simple.
Spay and neuter.
Don’t buy from pet stores and backyard breeders.
If more people would do those 2 things, we could change the world.
Very well put. I think Pitties are wonderful and loyal dogs. I have several pittie-pals here in Blogville although I myself am not one.
Rescue is honorable and kind. We highly endorse it as a way to build your pet family.

Hi I’ve just popped over from PBU. Excellent post and very well writen we have exectly the same problem across the pond in the UK, with not enough room in shelters if owners were more responsible it would help relieve the problem of overcrowding.
I’ve heard people say they can’t afford to spay there bitch do they not realise raising a litter of pups costs more or do they just dump them so there somebody elses problem.
p.s I’ve just started following you.
Your new pal Sheba.

Thanks for the feedback, Noodles, and welcome! The Lazy Pit Bull and I appreciate your support more than you know! 🙂
Hi Christina! I just want to Thank You for what you have written. It is exactly what I would love to write on my site ~ Pit Bulls Buddies ~. It is exactly how I feel. I am trying to get word out there too. It’s hard because this isn’t always happy and cute. We are on a mission otherwise we would only have a picture album on fb. Thank you for speaking the words for many of us who just haven’t found a way to get our feeling all the way our there. You’re article is right in. Thank you for being out there for our dog’s and cat’s! Keep up the good work** ~Gayle~ <3
Great post! I just stopped by from PBU. Welcome to the dog blog community!
My Blueberry was a rescue. She was dumped at the shelter with her 7 puppies and all of them were going to be euthanized before a rescue stepped in to help. This does not always happen for every mom and litter – but I am so grateful she and her little family were rescued. She’s the best dog and I highly recommend adopting an older dog!
Can I get an AMEN?!?!
Thanks Logan from me and The Lazy Pit Bull! We appreciate the support!
I’m glad you saved Blueberry! I just posted a young mom and her pups {less than a week old} on my FB page yesterday. Thankfully they, too, were saved.Btw, I agree with you that older dogs rock! Our doxie is 13!
Thanks so much for the support, Gayle! It means so much to me! Do you also run the Pit Bull Buddies FB page?
That is always such a tragic thing to hear. It’s so hard to control myself whenever I do find myself in a humane society or other adoption center. There are so many good and loving dogs up for adoption, and I agree completely with you that spay or neutering your pets is the best option. I don’t have anything against breeders, but with all of the dogs already needing good homes, there really isn’t that much of a need for a multitude of planned litters
Hi you’ve got a great blog! Dropped by from PBU and followed 🙂
I agree, neutering and all is just a small part we can play. I was adopted and all of those things were done for me already when my family got me
