Wedding season is almost upon us, and one thing is clear: we’re in love!

With our dogs, I mean.
There’s no denying that society is going to the dogs. In 2012, almost half of all US households had at least one dog. And most of us don’t think of them as merely dogs – we think of them as family, and we include them in our holiday celebrations, our vacations, and yes, even our weddings.
One evening as I was perusing Pinterest, happily pinning things to my Farmhouse Wedding board, I began to notice that so many wedding photos include dogs.
It really warms my heart to see so many people sharing their big day with their mutts, and I think you’ll agree that it’s really a special thing.
Some really awesome photographers agreed to collaborate with me on this post, allowing me to share these little captured moments of dog-loving brides and grooms. Click directly on each photo to be taken to the photographer’s website to see even more of their amazing work. Like this:

This photo takes “And now you may kiss the bride” to a whole new level, doesn’t it? Thanks to Teresa K Photography of Sacramento for letting me share this one, and the one below.

This one delights me for so many reasons! I just love how this sweet girl is barreling up the aisle ahead of her mom and dad, like she just can’t wait to start their brand new life together. Just so precious!

Perfection. That’s the first word that comes to mind when I see this adorable image from Kelli + Daniel Taylor Photography of Birmingham, Alabama.

And how about this one? I don’t even have words for it… it’s just too much. Thanks to Rockhill Photography of Newberry, Michigan for capturing this amazing moment with this handsome fella, clearly so proud that his mom and dad are getting married.

Central Florida’s Mark Dickinson Photography shared this image with us, and we love it. We also love that in lieu of traditional wedding favors, the bride and groom made a donation to Best Friends Animal Society, in honor of their guests.

Look who got all spiffed up for Dad’s big day, and Blueberry Photography of Berkeley, California was there to capture the moment. This little guy was surely the “best dog” at the wedding!

There are so many adorable ways to include your dog in your wedding. These are just a few of my favorites:
There’s no doubt we love our dogs and we’re happy to include them in every aspect of our lives, even on our wedding day.
Have you ever been to a wedding that included a dog?
I’d love to hear about it, in comments below or feel free to stop by my Facebook page! If you have photos of your dog in a wedding, please share them!
Yes! My wedding last May included Buster 🙂 The venue’s contract explicitly said no dogs allowed on premise unless prior authorization, so the very first question out of my mouth was if they would let Buster be in the wedding and if not we’d go somewhere else. He even went to the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner with us! He wore a blue ribbon that matched my bridesmaid’s dresses. My niece was a flower girl and walked him down the aisle. He did so so great standing up there with my bridesmaids. I LOVE my photographer’s pictures that included him.
Feature cats and you will be entertained. They are so.cute to watch and love to be spoiled. Get a cat.
I’m already married, but we’ll be having a bigger celebration this fall. Both my pyrs will be in our ceremony 🙂
We weren’t dog owners when we got married, so wasn’t a consideration for us. Not sure that I would, though (we also went far away to get married, though).
When I was a student, I worked at a private club that hosted lots of events – weddings included. And I’m a pretty big wedding cynic after that experience. So, regardles of how much I love my dogs and want to take them everywhere with me, weddings is where I draw the line. Engagement photos – okay. But a role in a wedding? Like involving children, it’s sentimental and a nice idea… but never works out in reality. So many stories of canine ring bearers doing zoomies around the ceremony… if you’re uptight about wedding perfection (most are, though won’t admit it), bad idea.
If I could have done it over again and found someone to help wrangle them I would have loved to have my dogs in my wedding. Maybe a vow renewal should happen????
I love the idea of people incorporating their pets into their weddings and I think it definitely takes a lot of guts because there are always those people that are going to speak their minds and give negative feedback. I am not saying they need to be part of the whole wedding, but a few cute pictures is such a nice touch. Some people don’t have children and their furbabies are their children. If it’s not your wedding then please don’t judge! I LOVE THESE PICTURES!
I LOVE these! I am always excited when we find out that a favorite venue allows dogs!
As a wedding officiant, I always welcome the wholw family to weddings (where facilities allow) . I’ve had many dogs in the wedding parties and they have always been awesome. It is always important to have someone other than the couple to help wrangle nd entertain these fur members, but I love having them there and participating as long as ty are good with groups of people. I’d love to share pictures.
Momma says I’m gonna be a flower girl if she gets married!
