Back when I was a little kid, my grandmother worked at Western Electric, where they manufactured telephones and other electronics. I remember hearing her tell a friend that some day, there would be phones that allowed people to actually see one another as they talked.
My grandma has been gone for 15 years now, but I have a feeling she’d just flip over today’s TECHNOLOGY – which just so happens to be this week’s 52 Snapshots of Life theme. Technology has come so far that not only can we now see each other when we talk on the phone, but that same phone gives us the power to instantly connect with millions of people all over the world, to carry a music library filled with thousands of songs, and to get any information we need, about anything, with just a couple of clicks.
I know so many of us take our phones for granted, but when you think about it, they are really truly amazing.
52 Snapshots of Life is a fun weekly photo challenge, but isn’t just for pet bloggers! It’s for anyone who loves to take photos, and everyone is invited to participate! Simply snap a photo based on the current week’s theme (shown in the image above), and then share your photo in a blog post, on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or wherever you like. It’s so much fun seeing what everyone comes up with for each week’s theme, and it’s never too late to join us!
Each Friday I share my photo for the week here in a blog post, and I give you a chance to link up with me and the other participants. All you have to do is simply add your link below and share your photos with the world! If you’re sharing your photos on social media, please be sure to use hashtag #52Snapshots so we can find you!
Just a couple of rules: first, if you’re linking up, please be sure to link DIRECTLY TO your #52Snapshots post – don’t link to your main website URL. And second, if you are not participating in the photo challenge, please don’t link up here. This blog hop is only for photos of this week’s theme, and unrelated links will be removed. Thanks for understanding!
My Gramps would have been totally into computers and iphones if he was still with us! My post talks about Gramps.
I think of the Jetsons. Except we don’t get any machines to make us look pretty; at least not yet.
They are amazing when used properly-as long as people don’t text and drive.
My gramma talks about how exciting TV was when it came out, and Mom talks about the internet and computers. Who knows what is next!
I always marveled at the changes that took place in my mother’s lifetime (1920 – 2009). When she was a child, they called cars “horseless carriages”! When she died, we were using iPhones and cars that talk to you! When she was 87, I did a blog post that listed all the things that had been invented since she was born until her 87th year (2007). Amazing!!
We love all kinds of technology!!

OMG! We had a Western Electric Company in our city. It was one of our largest employers! They had a display at the state fair one year about telephones where you could see the person you were talking to and we were amazed! LOL! I worked as a directory assistance operator when we used actual giant telephone books to look up numbers.
It really is amazing! Many people complain about technology, phones, etc., but those are people who don’t appreciate change and don’t focus on all the good things it has added to our lives, like all those connections.
Very nicely framed photo too!
My grandma is still alive…almost 100 years old. When I think of the technology changes, from horses to cars, and on up, that she has seen, I can’t imagine. Great post and I’m sure your grandma would embrace it all just as you have.
